How the Poetry Pit Works.
About The Pit: The Poetry Pit is a place where you can read the poetry of the members Of CPWS, submit your own poetry, and let the writer's know how much you like their work by voting on the entries. Sending in your poetry: If you become a member of the site, you can post your poetry. Theres a link on the side of most of the pages in the Pit, and a submission link is on the Member Control Panel as well. On the submit page, enter the title of your poem, any comments you wish to add, Then select the type of poetry you are submitting in the drop-down box. Not doing so will put your poem in the "Uncategorized" collection. Finally, type in your poem in the large text feild, and press the Submit! button. User points and Voting: You can submit 3 entries per day .When you submit a poem to the Pit, You are awarded 5 User Points.These denote how active you are on the site. To vote on an entry, select one of the 0 thru 5 buttons at the top of the page. The higher the number, the better you think the poem is! Voting zero denotes the poem was an absolute piece of crap, Voting 5 means you think the poem is excellent. You get 1 User Point for every 5 entries you vote on. How entries are ranked. Voting positively on an entry adds to the average ranking. of that entry. The higher this number, the higher it ranks. These totals are tallied weekly and overall. On the Pit Homepage, you can see the current Top 5, Random selections from the Pit,, and the 20 most recent entries. By selecting "Rankings" on the left, you can see the long-term scores of the best entries. If You vote negatively on an entry, it's ranking is reduced. If this value falls under 0.95 after 20 votes , The entry is removed from the pit, and displayed in "The Bottom Of The Pit" Only the absolute worst entries meet this fate. If these entries are not removed by the user, they will be deleted by the staff. Commenting onPoetry: Members may comment on entries in the Pit. Beneath the most recent review, a link is provided which activates the Review Window. Enter the title or introductory comments , then express what you think about the entry you are commenting on. Remember, You can comment on an entry only once. Other Functions. Announcements. Read up on the latest news from the Poetry Pit users! Members may post any news or information here. The Trophy Room. Here you can see who's got the best rated entries. User Profiles. Shows you any personal info a user has revealed about themselves, Their Photo, The avatar they're using, any site awards they currently hold, And links to all their content. |
